Post covers by artists who performed a song as good as or even better than the famous original.

I ran across this today and in my opinion it is better than the Beatles original.

Anyways, one of my personal favorites lately. Gwar playing Pet Shop Boys ‘West End Boys’ and more importantly ‘People Who Died’ by The Jim Carroll Band.

I don't recall it. The only other big music thread I recall in OT is the Earworm thread. This isn't really the same.

ALSO: LOL @ the Nickelback cover of ZZ Top.

I like this one from Johnny Cash.

Both the Hendrix and the DMB versions of All Along the Watchtower are better than Dylan’s.

I don't often find covers in general because I'm not very musically adept, Andy knows I can't keep up with some of you people around here. I happen to have the Amazon Music Rock Covers playlist going right now though since I'm working late.

I found these few to be reasonable:

My Darkest Days - Coming Undone (Duran Duran)
In This Moment - In The Air (Phil Collins)
Theory of a Deadman - Wicked Game (Chris Issak)
Seether - Careless Whisper (George Michael)

Find your own videos cuz I can't access YT at work.

Johnny cash covering NIN song Hurt. Sung shortly after his wife died, and shortly before his passing.

"I'd been friends with Rick Rubin for several years. He called me to ask how I'd feel if Johnny Cash covered Hurt. I said I'd be very flattered but was given no indication it would actually be recorded.

"Two weeks went by. Then I got a CD in the post. I listened to it and it was very strange. It was this other person inhabiting my most personal song.

"I'd known where I was when I wrote it. I know what I was thinking about. I know how I felt. Hearing it was like someone kissing your girlfriend. It felt invasive".

It was the moving video, though, that made it all fall into place for the Nine Inch Nails star: "It really, really made sense and I thought what a powerful piece of art.

      -Trent Reznor

The original is amazing, but this is now a Johnny Cash song IMO.

      Two things.

      1) Someone already posted that. It's a fairly well known cover.

      2) Can we stick to either just naming songs or posting links to the video? Posting multiple videos is going to clog up the screen and lag the **** out of each page.

I bought one of the "Dance Mix" CD's for that song as a kid.

The Go Go's biggest hit performed soon after the original by Fun Boy Three in a slower, colder fashion.

One of Dolly Parton's biggest hits performed by a lesser known synth pop band with somewhat gothic overtones.
