any updates? i need to read the fine-print again. i read that I can take to independent shop, but it HAS to be AFTER the part breaks, and they HAVE to use Genuine VW parts. I also saw that there is a maximum amount they will pay out for idy shop work performed. is there a timeframe for taking to an indy shop vs vw service/dealership?

The claim filing deadline has passed. If you are within the extended warranty period, you can try to take it to a dealer and see if they will cover it. I suggest you read the FAQ at www.timingchainlitigation.com

I'm concerned that I haven't heard ANYTHING from anyone. Should I be? I submitted my claim well before the deadline, included all necessary paperwork, etc etc, and haven't received any emails, phone calls or letters in the mail.

Should I assume they're just contacting people who need to provide additional info?

Have any of you been contacted just to let you know it's been received/approved, without asking for additional info?

You can call the claims administrator for status on your claim. They will at least confirm they have your claim
