This was the first time that I saw this (Yes one special one was shown by a tuning company). Made in the USA and exported to the outside but not sold here. This would have been a great package and now I know why VW is not offering the 2.0 other than in a base version. Check the YouTube video which I can't understand a word but one can at least watch and see its capabilities. Enjoy.

Edit (I don't see it having the towing package).

Ironically, it is not offered in S and SE trims in that market. You can technically try getting S, but it the number of available units will be marginal.

You know in theory, this is possible to do this. Personally I'll wait until these things are about 10 years old and ship a wrecked one from China for their 2.5T DSG and obviously required hardware to go along with it.

I dont understand the obsession with the 2.0T. We test drove the 2.0T and the 3.6VR and I think the 3.6 is much smoother. 3.6VR should also prove to be more reliable in the long run. I understand people wanting options, but I would think the more you spend.. the more sense it makes that the vehicle comes with the V6. The SEL Premium is a $50,000 vehicle.. if you really, really want to spend $50,000 for a 3 row VW.. then Audi will gladly sell you a Q7 with a 2.0T. And it will be much more "premium" than the SEL-P Atlas.

It’s the flexibility and the modifiability of the 2.0T that we all want. The turbo gets much better gas mileage than the VR6 and with tunes available from APR, the turbo can be increased to 319HP and 348lb-ft of torque by a simple ECU flash - blowing away the stock figures of the VR6. Imagine what an intake, down-pipe or IS38 upgrade could do.

I want an Atlas but I personally feel that the 10+ year old VR6 that is forced on anything above the S trim is lame. It’s fairly under-powered compared to similar vehicles for the size and weight of the Atlas and it certainly leaves much to be desired in regards to fuel economy. VWs flagship SUV is prime for a better or at least upgraded engine offering.

Oh, the Audi Q7 is a whole different demographic buyer. Plus, the third row on that vehicle is a joke which is one of the key benefits of the Atlas.

If 2.0T with 4Motion and SE R Line was avail in the States I would buy it in the heart beat. 95% of Atlases/Touaregs/Q7 etc don't get driver off road. If the 2.0T is good enough for Audi Q7 it's definitely sufficient for the Atlas with 4Motion. The guy in the video basically makes fun of the Atlas (weak engine etc). Sure it is...when taken off road. But it is not an off road vehicle. It's a city hauler with 4Motion that's meant for wet/snow/slippery conditions. For 100% city/highway and overall "regular" driving in most winter conditions that 2.0T engine is more than sufficient. I drove Audi Q7 2.0T and it felt great on the highway, city and country roads. Yeah, I know Audi has about 40 more ponies. I also drove 2.0T Atlas FWD. It felt more than adequate too.

      So bottom line...

2 weeks ago, I purchased 2019 V6 SE w Tech, RLine...ONLY BECAUSE 2.0T 4Motion SE Rline is not avail. Also have 2008 Touareg with that V6 engine. Touareg feels way slower than Atlas with the same engine. And Touareg takes premium gas.

      2008 touareg
      2015 passat limited
2019 atlas 4motion se tech Rline

Lower Price, better fuel economy and higher performance.....along with performance potential is probably why a lot of people desire the 2.0T vs. the VR6.
