So a small update, but the beginnings of a big one.In my quest to renew everything underneath the car, I was able to find a complete set of NOS heat shields.I'm gonna go full blown OCD on this MK3, and over the next year I'm gonna go thru everything to achieve my final goal...The perfect MK3...at least the perfect MK3 in my eyes.Since we all care about pictures only, enjoy the NOS goodness...As I type this Cory is sending me some NOS ABT stuff as well. It's gonna be a good year!

What engine is it running? As far as I know the CL is the entry level on any engine from 1.4 to 1.8lt

It is the 1.4 ABD baseline, slowest of the slow engine.

Hope it's not the one with 60ps. My brother had one of those with about 80ps and was decent enough especially for city use. Will give you a lot of mpg.
If you need anything I can source for that, I ll be more than happy to help since I m in Europe.

I feel you. I still have the mk3 I bought new in 1995. My brother drives it mostly now but it will eventually come back to me soon. It's a 1.6L with 100ps. The GT version. Decent power since it's not that heavy. Even beats the 1.0L mk7 in 1/4 mile!

      Keep up the good work

Thanks, we try to keep it as fresh as possible, considering the fact that it's 24 years old already.
Was my first car when I was 16, so it's sentimental too.
Found a picture of both the CL and GT. Same colour of course! CL is on the right.

This is great. I love nothing more than a well executed Mk3.

I'd be looking for a set of VR clocks though to get rid of that analogue clock, lol. The Recaro seats are getting hard to come by now, but they are still available. This is from a colour concept set if you want leather

      https://www.ebay.de/itm/VW-Golf-3-GT...EAAOSwCQNWdYBb

But I much prefer the OE cloth sets which were available for the VR6

Isn't it funny how we both yearn for each others parts from across the pond. I remember trying to import the deeper US bumpers for my VR6
