I know I know...no Giulia no QV eww CUV.

Weíve been looking for a replacement vehicle for my wifeís aging 2007 VW Beetle Convertible. We decided we wanted a more practical vehicle for her car that could handle road trip duty. Went back and forth around wagons, sport backs, and CUVs. Finally pulled the trigger today on a 2019 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Ti Sport AWD. Vulcano Black with Chocolate interior. It has pretty much every option except the Nero Edizone option which is a blacked out appearance package and the Ti Sport Performance package which includes adaptive dampers and LSD. Not a fan of the black wheels that come with the Nero Edizone package and the dealer didnít have one in the color combo we wanted with the LSD and adaptive dampers. While itís smaller than competitors in terms of size and space we really donít need anything bigger. If the Giulia was a wagon Iíd be all over it but I wanted hatch versatility with some fun. Already have a hot hatch so why not try something different I say. Yes yes I know, unknown reliability and dealer network. Admittedly taking a risk there but letís see how it goes. 36 month lease so Iíll be under warranty the whole time. Iíll be updating this thread on ownership experience to let you ladies and gentlemen know how it goes.

Edit: Made it 3 days before we were back at the dealership but all is well. Bad battery was replaced quickly by the dealer.

      Pics of course:

I never thought Iíd say that I like driving a CUV but this vehicle has changed my mind. Much more comfortable than my Focus ST obviously but it still has a bit of fun to give. The seats are fantastic. Havenít really put my foot into it but itís got enough torque to move quite well. First up on the list of things to do is a solid detail and ceramic coating done by me. Then it will be tint on the front windows to match the back. Other than that I donít see anything else as this will primarily be my wifeís daily driver.

I like those a lot. Anxious to hear your updates.

Incidentally I'm local and have been looking into NB convertibles for the summer. Hit me up if you didn't trade it in.

I drove a Stelvio for the first time today, such an awesome car! Handles and steers great. Power is excellent as well.

      Congrats!

Really nice! Love that interior color. Keep us posted on service and reliability; Iím tempted by the upcoming Tonale but Iím not sure if I can deal with major hassles. Or maybe I can if the car is fun enough...

The residual is terrible but the money factor is next to nothing. Overall itís not bad. Incentives are available just ask as they arenít really advertised. I just would rather lease due to the unknowns that I mentioned. If this goes bad I can just throw the keys at them and walk away after 35 more months.

      Thanks.

Did you look at this when you were there? They are cool and all, but 85k??

I did as it was on the showroom floor. Honestly the interior is just as nice in the regular one as long as you get the leather dash with stitching. Only thing you are missing is Carbon Fiber trim and alcantara. One of the Alfa specialists showed me a pic on his phone of a red QF they had previously which had the fixed back carbon buckets in which you lose heated capability. Who the eff would pick track capable racing seats in an 85k SUV?

Hard for me to comprehend what this thing would be like with 500 hp on tap.

OP you've done a superb thing. Congrats on the acquisition!

In my opinion those particular shift paddles have the best feel to the fingers of any unit this side of six figures.

Looks beautiful, I'm sure it drives just as good as it looks.

      Good thing you leased it.

      Tasteful interior choice, congrats.

A Stelvio would be a top contender if I was shopping in that segment.

Is the dash actually leather? How's the quality?

What about the upper door panels?

Nice pick up. I love the brown/chocolate interior. Curious on your thoughts on interior / dash quality?

While I am generally not a fan on SUV/CUV, prefer wagons/hatches, this one intrigues me given its unique looks and the base engine on paper sounds to have good power. Of course the QF is awesome, but nearly ~30-40k more. Curious to see how these hold up over time and what re-sale is like on them in 2-3 years.

I would like to see the Alfa brand do well in the US since I like the styling/quirkiness. Would love to see them bring a premium hatch (Guiletta?) to compete with GTI, CLA, 1 series, but doubt that will happen.

It is real leather with contrast stitching that matches the seat color on both the dash and the upper doors. Itís the same material on both areas. This is a $1100 dollar option. At first when I was building one online I said pfff whatever but then when I saw the difference this makes in the interior in person I thought it was worth it. Itís good quality. Iím really not understanding why many of the reviews knocked this thing for its ďlack of qualityĒ on the interior. I think the interior looks just as good as Audi and BMW in terms of quality of materials used and fit and finish. Some reviewers knocked the smooth black plastic around the shifter but I prefer it over piano black. The Audi RS5 sportback that was just shy of $100k that I sat in at the auto show had the similar black plastic around the center console/shifter area over a larger area. Nothing feels like cheap crap on the interior especially anything that you touch.

      Congrats OP! Well done!

Stelvio is first on my list for compact SUV, a poor man's Macan - without really sacrificing anything dynamically - if reviews are accurate.

Wife & I loved them at the auto show, again, the sacrifice of smaller size is worth the trade off for driving dynamics, IMO. Rear LSD with your configuration? Love how Alfa prioritizes performance!

Visit Eurocompulsion for a tune if the urge strikes. I think near ~350 hp with a tune. Burgertuning might have options too.

I would entertain a Stelvio QV if for some reason I couldn't have a car...just saying, that thing is a monster.

Looking at a Giulia QV myself in ~ 22 months (but who's counting?!), it's gonna be so hard to wait. Leftover new are dipping into the low 60's/upper 50's.

The stelvio quad is so absurd with those clipped on fender flares. I love it

It does not have the LSD. That is included in a package with Adaptive Dampers called the Ti Sport Performance package which is an additional $1350. Dealership didnít have one in the color combo we were looking for with that option.

Iím going to keep the modding to the FOST. At least if something breaks on that I can go down to autozone or junkyard to find a replacement.

      Great looking SUV!

Now that you've had it for 2 days how's reliability? Did you have to do any major repairs yet? Is everything still working ok?

Seriously though, good on you OP for not going German. I really want Alfa to not fail here, but unfortunately these and the Guilia are super rare here for some reason. I guess people can't pass up their C-Classes and 3 Series
