Because it looks good - maybe just looks different.

I’d say neither different nor good. It looks like every other base model car on the market that’s lost its plastic wheel covers and the owner couldn’t bother or afford to replace them.

      My opinion, of course.

If you prefer the leased fleet vehicle look, go for it. Assuming you are going just bare black steelies.

I love those....the chrome ones look like the old w123 Mercedes bundt wheels.

Been rolling on the factory steelies since I got her. They look way better with Tiguan caps: 5N0601169XRW I bought a set for $80 on eBay. That said, just purchased a set of Rial Arktis 17x7.5 alloys with Conti 225/45R17 tires, which will be her summer shoes.

I plan on repainting the steelies satin black while they are off. The PO had full wheel caps on them that has resulted in rust everywhere they came in contact with the wheel and the factory flat black doesn't appeal to me.

I like the wheels that one came with. So much better than the ones that came on mine.

I also run steelies with the Tiguan center caps! My car is lifted though so I don't mind the steelies because of the rugged look and practicality.
