Thread: My RCD 330 CarPlay setup

    1. 05-16-2019 02:43 AM #1

Loving my new noname RCD CarPlay system. Plugged in a flat wire USB extension cable (make sure to buy a good quality on as CarPlay needs good signal for data) into the front of the stereo and chiseled a tiny bit of the trim so it would fit. Ran the cable behind and brought through to the passenger foot well. Mounted it with 3m tape. Connected a braided lighting cable and attached the end to a cable tidy for when I not using CarPlay.
Bought a Satechi Bluetooth Button Series (Media Button) which connects to your iPhone through Bluetooth to skip songs so I don’t have to look at stereo screen while driving to find the skip button. Wired in back up cam which works great with an additional delay box needed.

      Things I bought:
Noname RCD 330 Plus with CarPlay
      (Backup camera already activated)
Back up camera and fuse tap
AWINNER USB 3.0 Extension Cable A Male to A Female Flat.
      SnowKids lightening cable
      Magnetic phone mount
      3M VHB tape

It toke some time and a lot of research but I hope it might inspire you to upgrade to this awesome system that is way worth the money.

Looks good! RCD330 is the best mod I could have ever done to my car.

What back-up camera did you get? I figure since I have the ability to, maybe I could have something else integrated and make my car just a tad bit cooler lol.

Used this cheap one from amazon.
It’s pretty good for the price

Thanks! I have the fettoca RCD330, not noname. Hopefully I won't run into any trouble with this camera. How was the install?

I only have the base jetta, so I'm limited to aesthetic mods only. Upgraded headlights to projectors, installed fogs, RCD330, all interior and trunk bulbs swapped to LED and aftermarket wheels.

Hey how did you do the wiring? Did you splice it to the reverse lights?

Yes I spiced into the reverse light. Put all wiring into the headliner, drilled hole behind back license plate. Oh and you have to tap into the fuse box too.

Where did you get your fog lights and how easy were they to install?

I got them from USPmotorsports, but you have a few options. I had a shop install them, I'm not too much of a DIY guy.

Thanks for the links. Not a bad deal. I probably do that for winter.

I always preferred the GLi fogs, but I wasn't gonna dish out $600+ for the GLi bumper and whatnot. These with LED bulbs work fantastic.
