      Hi everyone,

I picked up a new 2019 Jetta S last weekend and it's my first car with a manual transmission! So I've been driving a lot over the past week and put over 130 miles on while learning how to drive stick.

I noticed for the first time tonight when I got on the highway that I get an unpleasant rattling/buzzing kind of sound when I get higher up in the RPM range >4000RPM. I've been babying it all last week and not revving very high so I hadn't noticed it until now. But it seems to happen in every gear I tried and goes away as soon as the rev's drop.

Is this normal, or is it just because it's still new?

You're not driving a Bentley. Higher up the RPM range, the engine gets a little buzzy.

I would say it is not normal. If you can reproduce it easily, bring it in. I have a Jetta S and have taken it in 4 times for buzzing and rattling on the front passenger side. The sources of my noises include a heat shield, buzzing fuel lines, and missing screws on the floor vent. My shop has been very good about correcting the noise problems under warranty. Good luck!

My dealer wouldnt help me with my noises. Told me the rattle was from coolant going through the heater core. What bs

Thanks everyone for the replies. Yes I know it's not going to be smooth like a high end car but it didn't seem right to me. It sounds like it's coming from the engine compartment and almost sounds like I'm shaking a ring of keys. I was riding with someone yesterday and they mentioned that it might just be the sound of the gear mesh and everything else breaking in. I tried to hear the sound again today and I didn't notice it. I guess the next time it happens I'll bring it in.

I was getting a buzzing resonating noise in the cabin. Turns out it was the sun glass holder on the rood (the spring loaded button that pops it open). I changed that under warranty. The replacement part has the same issue. Also now the emergency assistance buttons are also making a similar noise.

Current fix = have put clear tape on all switches in that area for now...

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I don't have a sunglass holder because it's the base model (my only option for a stick outside of the GLI) but I haven't noticed the rattle since then.

I know what you're talking about my auto has it too but I haven't really done anything about it. It sounds like theres birds in the engine
