    Thread: Cargo area flat?

    1. 05-19-2019 02:14 PM #1
Is the cargo area flat in the 2019 Tiguan (2 row and 3 row)? I ask because I want my dog to be in the back and I've had a problem with my 3 row Toyota Highlander as it has a slight incline so it is not ideal for my dog who is in the back cargo area.

      Thank you!

I have the two row and the entire trunk area is one large panel and completely flat in the higher position. There's a gap between the backs of the rear seats and the front of the cargo area to accommodate reclining of the rear seats.
The three row models, I recall, are uneven but I'll let someone that owns one talk to that.

Uneven, there’s the CarGo cover that has areas with raised borders. I’ll grab a picture later. It’s not bad though. A dog should navigate without ease.

3 row SE here. I'd say flattish. You may be a bit more satisfied with the 2 row if flatness is a priority as there are some irregular ridges and seams with the 3 row. Check them both out though as it may not be a big issue.

What's your dog breed? If it's a large breed them no issue with the cargo border.

He's a Golden Retriever so he "big-ish." I'm not as worried about the space as much as the flatness. He is just sort of picky too, so there's that.

We got a 2 yo Golden retriever. 3 row se. She loves it. Just enough space to move around and not too big where she will lose her balance.

Here’s the back of a 3rd row model.

It is, but I know dogs can be finicky, so wasn’t sure with the ridges it’s would be consider “flat”.

Those "ridges" are part of the covers that are on the backs of the third row seats and on the flat piece behind the seats. These covers are held on with velcro like pads. They are easily removable if desired. It would be more flat without the covers.
