So recently suffered some frame damage to my perfectly running 87 cabriolet. Basically a mountain jumped out of in front of me. The passenger side is all bent in on the bottom, the cross frame under the seat is all wrinkled and the top will no longer close.
I set out to find a donor cabriolet with a good body on it and I found one. It is an 86 and the PO said it didn't run, something fuel injection, and didn't shift right, possible syncronizer issue and the top was in terrible shape. Well I have a perfectly good running drive train and a good top.
So here is the start of making 1 great cabby out of 2! I will be posting any updates here.

The thing that would worry me most about this project is that rusty rear cable channel on the white car. Take your time to deal with that and to be sure you thoroughly inspect the rest of the car for any other areas of rust before proceeding with the mechanical swap. Otherwise it should be pretty straight forward.

That is also my concern YJSAABMAN. I was originally gonna cut out a section from the red car and weld it in place on the white car but after more thought, I think I'll attempt to fix it with fresh material. I can always go that former route if I botch the whole patching thing.

Got the top off an rear seats out. Need to vacuum all the leaves out if this thing. Maybe pressure wash the inside. I will have to remove the carpets if I decide to do that.
Got an initial look at the rusty corners, I think it's manageable. They must have installed the top all wrong or something to cause the corners to rust. Any other ideas why it would get rust there? Those spots are the only rust spots in the whole car!

      All seats out and vacuumed.
I also did a quick grind to see more of the rust damage. Definitely not as bad as I thought. Still gonna be quite a bit of work.
