I own a perfect 1989 vw cabriolet which we have had since new (mint mint mint) however, the top left cover of the glove box has de-laminated (the plastic / vinyl black material which covers the door has de-laminated away from the metal door cover). It seems the adhesive which adhered the plastic material to the door has likely dried out after 30 years.
I've considered repairing it with contact cement, but am afraid of making a bigger mess that I'd like. And am afraid the contact cement will melt the textured plastic material.
If anyone out there has had this situation and successfully repaired it, please advise. If anyone has a replacement door in black in very good condition (VW part # 171857122 8BM) I'd be interested in purchasing it
