Thread: New 2016 Volkswagen Touareg TDI Lux

    1. 08-11-2019 11:15 AM #1
I found a brand new (less than 100 miles) 2016 Volkswagen Touareg TDI Lux and I'm wondering what you all think would be a good price for this. Also, I've read the forums about cars that have been sitting around for a long time and what to watch for. Anything else to consider with this car if I end up buying it?

From a dealer? That should be a CPO with those miles. My 2014 has been solid.

Yes, this is from a dealer. They are asking $52,300 and this seems a bit high.

Super high price. It’s already almost 4 years old and doesn’t have nearly all the tech that the new Atlas SEL Premium comes with. I know the two are apples and oranges but even though that’s the last year TDi model and it’s a Touareg, many other ones for sale right now CPO with less than 20-30k miles and for no more than $40k or slightly over.

Few hundred miles versus one that has 20-30k miles has zero difference. I’d try and knock them down another $10-15k and steal it.

$45k gets you a top of the line R-Line Atlas fully loaded with every option and tech imaginable but it’s not Diesel if you need that towing and MPG capability. I’m not an Atlas fanboy, I just sold my 2015 Touareg Hybrid a few months ago which was a super fast monster and all top trim level options as standard so I know these cars well. Sold it and bought a 2010 Diesel Touareg and love this one to death over my 2015 lol.

I'm actually also comparing to the Atlas SEL Premium. I don't need towing but do like the MPG capability as comparted to the Atlas. I have a 2018 Toyota Highlander now and not super impressed so I'll trade this in.

Yea, these dealers are such scumbags sometimes. There's a CPO '16 TDI Exec. with 8,200 miles near me. They want $50k(about what they would have sold for in 2016). I asked him how he got to his price and basically he said because they're not made anymore and people want them. I would buy it but not for that price. The irony is, ask him if you brought that exact car to him to trade for say, an Atlas, what would they give you. Wholesale value. Check KBB trade-in. $30k at best. The price is nuts but someone Jonesin' for one will pay it. I told him I could buy a new Q5, CPO Q7, and BMW for that kind of coin. It doesn't matter, they'll sit on it for as long as it takes. I thought about offering him $35k which in my opinion is a fair price. Maybe as much as $38K but that would be as far as I'd go.

My parents bought a 2016 TDI Lux with a towing package “new” from a dealer in NE Ohio last fall for $37,000. It was never registered and had between 8,000 and 11,000mi on it. The service manager just drove it. Had the fix done, extended warranty, and had most of the protective plastic still on the inside.

The price on yours seems way too high even though it only has 100mi on it.
      Insert catchy phrase here.

      I bought a ‘15 Exec TDI w/10k on it 10 moths ago for $33k. $52k is insane.

Look at all the 2010 TDI starting to flood the market now that they are done being emissions “fixed”. The ones that are Limited Lux Package with Air Suspension are being sold for ridiculously high prices.

One with 35k miles just hit the market near Minneapolis less than a week ago and was listed for $22,400 and already sold yesterday to someone out of state.

KBB valued it at $16-17k Maxxx and cant believe a 2010 sold for that much.

Dealers in the Twin Cities are asking $45k+ for Lux models and north of $50k for Execs. Insane.

Twin Cities area has that kind of demand and need. Lots of campers and boaters plus the harsh winters with tons of snow. Plus these Diesel Touaregs are some of the best most capable SUVs so I get it lol.

Still overpriced by a lot especially since the tech is starting to be outdated but I don’t think anyone else has come up with anything to rival these 2015-16 TDIs unless you want to splash over $70k on the new X5s but do they come Diesel for 2020 new body?

The last year for diesel X5 was the 2018, I have one. The latest generation X5 was new for 2019 and there are no diesels.

Sad that the govt has made importing diesels impossible for foreign makers to take the chance on trying to work out a solution for an acceptable diesel engine here in NA. Instead car companies have doubled up their there sales of huge pickups with V-8 engines as well as SUV that get 50% less MPGs as their diesel counter parts can deliver No green deal there. Slimming diesels is a political game being played to garner votes.
