Thread: Stunning: Acura Type S Concept debuts...can it save Acura???

    1. 08-13-2019 08:54 PM #26
For Acura, Type S is the same concept as what Special Edition is for Honda:

"Hey, let's take an aging car that's about to be replaced and try to goose sales for its last year on the market by (Honda) configuring the options differently (sunroof and alloys on the LX model!) or (Acura) goosing the power a bit."

      Type S is nothing special.

I’m not seeing the big deal. It’s pretty obviously an RDX that’s been turned into a sedan. Cut out the concept stuff, and it will be pretty pedestrian.

This is a preview of the next TLX, which is a new generation. It's not a trim of the current one and will have a new engine.

Again, confused as to why you guys would jump into a thread about a car you don't give a **** about.

The title only says Type S concept. Nothing about it being a sedan.

If you hover over the link to see what the first few sentences say (as one should do if they are triggered by Acura sedans), the preview reads as follows:

I finally forgive Acura for bringing ILX. This sedan looks great.
So you wouldn't have to open it to know what it was about

Nor, more importantly, would you have to **** on it once you found out.

Wow, those guys at Honda are real *******s... tossing some extra performance and suspension bits in a car in the later years of its life to move a few more units. How dare they offer something to appeal to enthusiasts

A "sedan" qualifies as stunning, these days.

It's not another SUV/CUV, and it has 4 exhaust tips, which implies it has an ICE.
It is a TCL fantasy come true.

I want to see an ILX type S with sh-awd and the civic type R motor. The TLX is a bit too big.

There is a handful of super ignorant posts in this thread so far and its only page 2.

We know very few things about the FMC TLX, and only what is posted in this concept reveal for Type S... but already its obviously based off the Accord, it has nothing special over the base model for features/performance, and it will have mild bump in power, or will be the RDX powertrain

      Literally the definition of hating.

I still miss my Acura RSX Type S. It was a really fun car.

I think this concept looks great.

It's weird. It's just an Acura sedan. Seems the brand still has some power and meaning after all. "If they're hating you're doing something right"

      Good for them

Hopefully the production version comes out better than the RDX. I feel like it's exterior styling and finishing looks overwrought and chintzy. Too try-hard. I think the older designs of the current TLX and MDX models look more elegant and better overall.

So what you’re describing is basically the 2020 CLA45.

Except with a usable back seat, a nice design, and none of the ****tiness, for probably $20K less

The design is gorgeous even if it is a touch derivative.

With all the sporty compact segment cars (CLA/A3/2/1 etc) can they finally wisen up and drop the motor from the Civic Type R into the ILX but add SH-AWD.....price it around $45K and it will undercut the S3 CLA43 235i by a substantial margin.

EDIT: opened my response and waited far to long to finish/post, already mentioned above.

I think this new sedan (albeit just a sedan) looks really good compared to current Acura sedans.

Love that everyone is getting hot and bothered by a concept. Looking fwd to seeing the actual production version to see how neutered it will actually look.

This is not like a Cadillac Elmiraj or w/e. Outside of the stance and shaved door handles/mirrors this looks production ready.

And if you are a ricer like me you can replicate the stance anyway. "Bespoke platform"... we will see. I'd wager the 10th gen Accord/Civic suspension is in play. Will be interesting to see if they move to 5x120mm hubs like the MDX and RLX.
