    Thread: Ideas on oil leak

Pretty major oil leak coming from drivers side of engine. Any ideas what it could be? seems to be some sort of gap between the oil pan and the gasket that sits there, is that by design

You have posts so here's the deal...

Search 1.8t oil leaks here and Google

Replace both the Valve cover gasket and vvt tensioner seal, and check all pcv hoses and intake pipe after recirculation point from pcv.

      Put dye in oil.

Engine degreaser, soak side of the engine, top of yams etc. Befor doing all odd that work, and then let the sun bake your hose when it's filled with water 30 minutes or so. Before, you shiaatt ot down with the hose, hit it all again with degreaser, what's loosened up by soaking will come off easily. Don't pressure wash.

Now do the repairs and check for leaks with special glasses and light in 2-3 days.
