If thats what "really really good" looks like to you, i'm concerned.

I see an amorphous blob of a CUV with a goofy catfish face.

It'll fit in really well in the segment. They softened it to appeal to one end of the market, and the upcoming baby Bronco should take care of the other end.

It reminds me of when the offered the SE trim on the 90s Pontiac Grand Prix where they put the grille lower than it normally should go:

      It just looks awkward.

      No.

And three cylinders isn't enough for effective engine braking.

My 2 cyl motorcycle has crazy engine braking

The issue is the (lack of) displacement.

      "looks really really good"

While it doesn't look terrible. It just looks cheap to me.

What does this compete with the RAV4? CRV? The Hyundai Tulsa?

      Good luck with that.

Saw and sat in it at the NY auto show. It looks better in person, and is quite comfortable and roomy.

I would quite like the Titanium PHEV version of it, which would be a nearly perfect car for us, but I am unlikely to spend the premium over my CX-5 to get it.

0-60 in the 6 second range and 3500 pounds of towing capacity is great for the segment.

Also comes with 4 cylinder, hybrid and PHEV... so combined with the inoffensive styling is a recipe for huge sales volume.

Based on the same chassis as the new Focus, so it should be amongst the best handling in the class. Hopefully they do a legit ST version.

In person it's not so bad. I caught these at the top of Pike's Peak while I was there with the family last week. The camo is the Lincoln Corsair I believe. Ford had a **** ton of them driving up and down the top half of the mountain.

In a car/crossover, three-cylinder engines almost by definition are not going to have any effective displacement for engine braking.

Comparing that to a motorcycle is silly.

Agreed it looks good. People still commenting on big grills are funny. It has only been around 10 years now that the big grill thing has been happening. How is being stuck in 2008 treating you?

I would configure like C&D would but maybe would consider the hybrid. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a2...ld-price-spec/

sure it looks cheap compared to the CX-5 but it always has. Still a good competitive CUV in that market.
If you can't measure it, you can't understand it; if you can't understand it, you can't control it.

The grille itself isn't what bothers me, it's the blank space between the headlights. If anything, the grille looks too small. I like the rest of the design, though.
