Thread: Replacing/Repairing hard steel brake line

    1. 09-11-2019 07:53 PM #1
My 2007 Passat has a hole worn in the hard steel brake line that goes from the front driver's-side wheel well to (I think) the ABS module. This is not the flexible rubber hose that screws into the caliper, but rather the steel line that the hose threads into at the other end. The swaybar end link broke off and wore a hole in it.

QUESTION: what is this part number and where can I buy a replacement line? Nobody seems to have this thing on any parts diagram and there is nothing in stock or even on eBay! Am I just totally screwed here? Will I have to invest in a flaring kit and splice in a new segment?

      VW doesn’t sell prebent lines.

Cheaper flaring kits suck, this one rules: https://youtu.be/i9SlpvT0RGk

Measure the line and get a preflared line and bend it. Get 2-3 just in case and you avoid having to flare it.

Buy a bending tool or two
