The Volkswagen EV Check App can be downloaded from the Google Play Store and will be an essential part of the Volkswagen electric car experience.

      more:

"Last month, Volkswagen introduced a free app — called Volkswagen EV Check — in the initial European markets where the ID3 will go on sale early next year: Austria, Germany, France, Denmark, Luxembourg and Norway.

The app — which global sales head Jürgen Stackmann confirmed would ultimately come to the U.S. via the Google Play and Apple App stores — compares how the ID3 would perform over a given drive compared with the consumer's current vehicle.

Once activated on a trip, the app records the distance traveled, the estimated energy consumed and CO2 exhaust generated during the trip, as well as the total cost of driving the existing vehicle vs. the ID3, allowing consumers to do a "performance test" to see how an EV might function in a their daily lives.

Stackmann told Automotive News via Twitter that the app rollout is planned in stages globally as Volkswagen expands its EV offerings outward from Europe.

He did not say when the app would be available in the United States and Canada."

This sounds like a great idea and should answer some of my questions about moving to an electric vehicle. Looking forward to its arrival in the US.

This is going to be a great tool for trip planning and helping people deal with any range anxiety. Great move by VW.

Is the Volkswagen EV Check App different from Car-Net? In the US not sure if that makes a difference.
