Over the past few months, I have been spending a lot of time taking photos and writing about cars as part of a project called Revolving Garage (shameless plug). There are two cars that I really didn’t think too much about, but once I got to really focus on photographing them, I found myself saying “ooof, wow this thing is beautiful.” So I thought I would share, and see if y’all had any similar experiences.

1968 Mercedes 300sel 6.3 - I knew nothing about these. But now spending time with it, the motor, the interior, everything about it to me oozes cool.

2008 911 GT2 - Always loved the 997, but had no idea how special or damn-near-perfect the GT2 was. I did photos for this car as it was headed to BaT. The stance and proportions are just so spot on.

No PT Cruiser love? For shame, that car saved them.

I really like the old Honda Passports, I know it's just a rebadged Isuzu Rodeo but I love them nonetheless.

Fox notchback. Grew up around these and thought they were ugly:

But in reality they are a simple and beautiful shape, and are entirely badass with a few changes.

American cars with V8s for me. Granted, they have got a lot better over the last ~20 years, but between that improvement and what feels like their impending death I feel compelled to get one. Plus, 'Mrca.

      You are correct.

Hell, at this point I even like the four headlight fox bodies.

I overlooked my favorite car of all time; the GTI!

In 2006 I wasn't particularly interested but happened across the Mk5 because it was one of the few available two-doors at the time. Turns out I loved it and I've had 3 GTIs since.

Early 2000's domestic cars have grown on me in the last couple years... I think it's rooted in nostalgia for my childhood.

I used to think the MK5 Jetta was the most boring design in the world, but for some reason the styling has grown on me.

Sorry, no... those things are still as UAF to me as the day they were created on an etch-a-sketch.

I used to be an American car hater (back in the 1990s/early 00s), but I've come around. Used to hate on C5 Corvettes, but I'd love a C5z06 for a track car.

The chincy interior doesn't matter once the thing is stripped and caged.

These have aged well. They're also relatively simple cars, no FI, no fancy gimmicks. This is what you get, take it or leave it.

Yeah, this would probably describe me as well. I never liked american cars growing up and i was never in any type of performance car with a v8. Until I got older and am now on my second performance oriented domestic vehicle.

You mean we don't all like the same things?! Insanity. Insanity I say. It's almost like that's the reason why different cars exist, to cater to people with different tastes.

Yup, you need the various cars because there are people who are various degrees of wrong.

Of course! I need to use emojis more...I'm old and miserable so my sense of humour doesn't always make it to the page...
...and you're right, I'm pretty sure your cat would choke on my AIP diet...
