Ive been down this road before. Put the oem donut in there and the bolts won't bottom out anymore
Expose your cracks and love will fill them.

Just to be clear I’m done arguing with you, it’s pointless as you are literally arguing with yourself at this point.

I want to say that it's just getting impossible to find good reasonably priced exhaust work anymore, but that feels like discounting that it's getting difficult to find good reasonably priced automobile work of any kind anymore. It's not generally profitable to do exhaust work at the shop I'm employed at, but at the same time every time we send a car out to have exhaust work done we end up having to fix it ourselves anyway to the point where the owner is wanting to buy an exhaust tubing bender thinking there is a market for paying a bit more to have it done right the first time.

not to mention there are supposed to be spring bolts on this flange..... shop is refusing to fix it.

and if you're wondering, yes it's leaking from there and yes it sounds like crap.
Why not just dispute the charge and start over somewhere else? Fat chance they're going to do anything to fix it / why would you wanna go back there anyway?

It's a monro chain.... Was referred by a few people to the location I went to, said they have an exhaust specialist with a lot of experience....
Taking it to a different monro location... Monro corporate also mentioned I can bring it to another shop but I'd have to pay for it and send them a bill and they MIGHT pay for it.... So... I'm just gonna have this other location do it (install the oem gaskets and hardware...) and try sending the parts cost for the gaskets and hardware...

      Oil changes, exhaust and brakes...

Places that specialize in these things aren't using the most experienced technicians to fix your car. They pocket fat margins on cheap labor at standard job rates.

LOL okay... I wouldn't give that chain a second chance at all.

Take it to a Toyota dealer or a proven skilled independent shop, get an estimate for it to be repaired properly, and demand that Monroe cover that bill. Anything less will be detrimental to your car's value and your safety (brake lines getting torched).

OR just do a simple credit card chargeback and deal with it yourself. But I would never let that chain touch my vehicle again, and once you have the financial resolution those pics need to be on review sites to show the hackjob work they try to sell.

I didn't pay by credit card..

As for the chain, I'm not sure what to do at this point. I called another location, made an appointment and they called me back saying that he knew the guy that worked on my car and was saying some bs about how he's a good guy etc....
Probably just gonna take it to my indy mechanic and have him fix it. And maybe try and have him write up a huge bill for them to pay......

he might be a "good guy" but he made a mistake. we all have, if he was truly a "good guy" he'd admit his mistake and fix it or pay for it to be fixed properly.
      signatures are annoying, right?

Let that be a life lesson to you and to everyone else who pays for any sort of service in cash or check in the Year of our Lord 2019, almost 2020, because in any retail or service transaction where you may have a problem, you have ZERO recourse against shoddy work or substandard services unless you pay by credit card. Hell, keep in mind the extended warranties most cards automatically provide on virtually any non-automotive product you purchase using their brand, why would anyone pay cash for anything anymore?

new gaskets, hardware installed, new hanger welded on to the muffler to replace the POS universal hanger. Sounds perfect. So much for it being my engine mounts. Car sounds great now....

No, they refused to fix it, wouldn't change their mind that it HAD to be the engine mounts (for **** sake), but the corporate support claimed they will reimburse me for this bill....

Also I have a box full of gaskets and hardware the mechanic took off the car.... Somehow there's 3 gaskets (should be 2, one for each flange....) so they used an extra gasket and an entire bucket of silicone putty.... Guh. Need to leave a review for this awful location...

Btw the shop that ****ed up the install is Monro in Norwood, MA.....

The shop that fixed my car is called Chestnut Motors and I highly recommend them, they're always on the money and do **** right the first time.

My Dad has had excellent luck in small claims court for this sort of thing. Pay your mechanic $30 to write up what he found (or you can summarize his feedback and have him sign). I assume the bill for fixing and your time is under $300? 9 out of 10 times the guys won't even show up to court. They'll default judgement and have to write you a check.

well if monro corporate doesn't pay, I probably will.... I'm hoping they just pay up... the bill for parts + labor combined was roughly $300.....
