I feel weird about it, but none of them really speak to me. I guess I'd choose the Miata, but I'd rather have two E36 M3s. One for the track and one for the road.

I believe title of thread is "Choose your NEW Sporty Car: $30k Manually Transmission Edition".

      Irrelevant post is irrelevant.

voted in poll and with my $ for the GTI. got my GTI Sport for 24K (+TTL) and the $ wanted on my trade in
I drove WRX it was fast but felt big
Cconsidered the V8 Stand (prev had V6 one) and my problem with Mustang was to feel fast you had to go at speeds you had no business doing on the street.
Drove the BRZ and it needed power. With the limited passing zones in my area you would have to 4k+ rpm just to be able to have an oppty to pass. low RPM torque in GTI lets you drive lazy if you want but still easily pass someone.
Don't fit in Miata....that may have been nice.
Camaro would have the Stangs problem of being stupid fast.
The Z was so limited availability they didn't discount

gotta mention there are a bunch of nice cars at this price range...it's a good time to enjoy cars

Just came after extreme delayed reaction to ask about Veloster N absence

I saw SavageGeese had a review up of it. Wondering how he liked it versus the hosannas from R&T. They do get around some cones and sound good doing it.

GTI Rabbit Edition, because I love the plaid, hate sunroofs, and drive 90 miles a day.

20 years younger and I'd take the Veloster hands down.

MX-5!! I'd have the RF. I can't stop looking at them. It'll be a while before I can get a 3rd car but I definitely want to get one.

I'm biased, I'd pick the gti and I actually did. I got a pretty good deal on a 17 sport but not as good as strange mud did. I managed 25k + ttl.

      If you picked a GTI over a 5.0 Mustang, it's because you haven't driven a 5.0 Mustang. /thread

Nope. Driven both, and bought a GTI.

Not everyone wants a big car. I like the Mustang almost enough to buy it as-is, but if it was 5-10% smaller I'd have chosen it over my 86. The E92 M3 is my benchmark for a DD.

Forget that (as TCL isn't exclusively VW) the funnier part is that he drives Ford's version of the GTI.

They are basically $30k without haggling.

I own a 5.0 Mustang. The GTI is objectively a better car.

Mustang would slaughter the GTI in every single performance aspect but I think everyone is focusing on the whole package. Not as easy to live with the Mustang if you need child car seats or drive it in inclement weather. In comparison, the GTI is "sporty" at best but it can be utilized for multiple daily tasks all year round.

Since Honda Civic Type R is way over $30k ($36k+), I choose Veloster N + Performance package... Again the list doesn't have it....

Correct. Title says sporty, 30k manual. Mustang is sportier. And manuallier.
