Thread: Longest you had one car for!!

    1. 12-04-2019 07:54 PM #1
So I have had my 2005 VW GTI for 11 years now and have 130,000 miles on it. I still have it and right now have it mothballed for the winter. I am going to keep it as long as I can before my wife threatens to divorce me over it. She wants me to get rid of it as it is not the best car when you have 3 kids, but I am stubborn.

My wife has a 2006 Jeep Commander that's been more or less rock solid except for eating a few ignition switches.

I had my E39 540/6 for 8.5 years. Thought I'd never sell it, but once it was the second weekend car, that was it.

I've had my 944S since early 2000, so almost 20 years now. The next oldest would be my S2000, which I've had since early 2007.

Me? I think from 2014 to 2019, which makes about 4.5 years in actual time.

My father had a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee for about 20 years before it died.

Had a 1966 Plymouth Satellite and also a 1988 Volvo 240 for about 12 years each. Both were great cars.

My Range Rover and CC were tied at 18 months each. Some were as short as 3 months. My average is usually 6 months.

I like to switch it up. And I guess I haven't really fallen for any of the 26 I've had.

      I see...
How do you deal with the money loss? Or you just don’t care about it? I don’t need to answer, just ask me to be quiet...

Just under 13 years with a Gen 1 RAV4 purchased new first year, when they came out. Typical Toyota ownership, owned it for awhile and had no major issues, but was slow like tupperware. Regret selling it since had a lot of utility before it was cool, and it was my first car. Currently in a car I bored with even though it is manuel, since I want something more updated, but I've been in it for over 11 years already.

I've had my 74 Super for 16 years, but it's been my family since new.

My wife had her 2007 FJ from 2006-2017 so that's the longest in our household. I've had my 993 for almost 10 years which is the longest I've owned a car for!
