I have never really liked my C8 A6. Coming out of my C7.5 that I was in LOVE with, it was a rough transition. I didnt like the power plant. I didnt like the fact I couldnt do most of the same things that I could on the MMI wheel while driving, on the touch screen. The tune on the DSG box is one that makes me want to pull my eyes out of my head. I just over did not like it. In the interest of my upcoming RS6 I did not want to start another lease when my ability to drive this car was up (demo at work) at the end of year so I have been looking around for something that is cheap to buy and wont lose much value over the next 6-10 months. I was hoping for something with a stick and Quattro so I can take it Ice Racing in Wisconsin this winter. I was searching Craigslist and Facebook Market place (**** that place, my goodness) and found a couple things local.

Enter Sataurday night, I havent been on Audiworld in forever but had been throught Audizine two or three times and figured I would check it out. Lo and behold, I found a 2001 S4 with 221,xxx miles on it just outside of Atlanta. It looked super clean for the miles and after checking the (clean) Carfax, my assumptions were correct, it had been a SoCal and Southern car its entire existence. The car has a couple of issues that are to be expected from a car of this vintage and miles. It has a coolant leak from somewhere. It needs tires. The windshield washer system doesnt work. the Coolant temp sensor acts up occasionally, and it needs a battery, but the guy was asking 2k for it so I figured, with how clean it looked and the price, I really couldnt go wrong. Called a tech friend of mine who is big in the B5 world and asked him if it **** the bed would he buy it for parts and he happily accepted. I had our local Atlanta resident check it out for me today and gave it a big ole thumbs up.

So I just bought this for $2,075 (splitting cost of battery)

I am having the owner drop it off at Audi Marietta this weekend so I can send down a shipper and hope to have it here by the day after Christmas. I am excited to be back in the B5 world and hope that I dont need to dump 5k into it right away

Who am I joking, OF COURSE Im gonna have to do that But it should be a fun winter beater, ice racer, quick bridge to my RS avant, which is exactly what I wanted and needed.

So follow along with me as I pepper my anus.

hell yeah, I've always wanted a B5 S4. hope this treats you well as a fun beater.

if it's a runner when you're ready to get rid of it, it might be a fun addition to my driveway.

Nice find! That's a rare bird--high miles but looks to be 100% stock? I'd be curious to see its ownership and maintenance history...

If the maintenance has been done right, that should be a pretty great beater. Well done, sir.

Surprised you didn't find anything that came through the dealership, though?

I was thinking, its really not going to be worth anything over what I paid for it, or anything near what I paid for it on trade, so I may just keep it *shrug*

It is stock (other than a 3.5 mil jack ) He has a very extensive maintenance history with the car. I have seen it. It was the guys only car for 15 years that he needed to use every day to commute. Andy said that it showed as if it had less than 100k miles

Its so hit or miss finding anything on trade. And I wanted a stick. And I wanted Quattro. I am taking in a 150k mile S5 this week, but its going to cost too much money. I was trying to stay less than 4k all in on this.

$2075 is a trap. A money trap, that is. I'd say $2400/yr to maintain on the road.

      Glad this worked out dude!

Only thing that could've made this sweeter is if it was Nogaro Blue.

I've seen worse looking S4s with half the mileage...

But I'm sure it will still bilk you for 8 control arms, 6 coil packs, 4 tires, 2 turbos, something else I can't think of yet, and a partridge in a pear tree.

Even with all that I'll always love those cars [despite their potential for quickly becoming a dumpster fire].

      Will not disagree.

If you want to drop a zero from your asking price I will not buy that and buy the M5.

      Get at me.

For what it’s worth, Rabbit’s 2.7TT has been bulletproof.

I’m sure I just ruined that for him, but there’s hope in this world.

Biturbos are indeed pains in the ass. However, as always, you’re very wrong. And I don’t have Audi master tech connections like Brandon does.

Seriously though Brandon, I’m glad you got it. I’d love to find one that was clearly owned by an adult it’s whole life for a reasonable price like that.

This. He could have gotten a car as clean as that for twice the price, but he didn’t. He paid the same as a clapped out parts car, so he’s already a leg up...

...since the other ones been sold for the parts he already has on order

      Someone mentioned heel-toe?

Almost pulled the trigger on a blue one of these several years back. Love them though, hope it works out for you I worked at an Audi dealer at the time and still was hesitant...

Surprised you dislike the C8 A6 that much though. I think it looks good and considered getting one at some point but, maybe not. The supercharged V6 is something I'd pick over the turbo 6 all day every day anyhow.
