So, I have been looking for a car that would essentially be a backup to my highly modified rabbit. I was looking at pretty much everything cheap. Bouncing from Radwood era euro-trash to pre-smog Japanese trucks to ďmodernĒ compact trucks.
Friend of a friend starting doing a light resto of an e30 for his daughterís first car. Half way through his told him that there was no way that an old bmw is safe enough for his daughter. So, the project stalled, and sat for a couple of years. Finally he decided he wanted the spot in the garage back, so I got a call. And the price was good enough for me to say yes on the spot. Even though it has the wrong number of doors, and the wrong transmission. Interior is in amazing shape, no cracks on the dash, the comfort seats (boo) are in great shape. He installed brand new H&R/Bilstein combo, brand new brakes plus a full tune up. He also put too big of wheels on it, with Direzza DZ102s, so those kinda cancel each other out.
Got it up on the rack, and found out it had a 3.73 LSD installed on it. Which is the right ratio for a manual, so thatís a huge plus.
Plans: Detail the paint, swap the trans, find different wheels. Hopefully get the a/c kicking again. Also try to document the ownership here.
