UPDATE: ordered a power stage and coil for the passat. won't be here until thurday so i know i'll be getting a 53 dollar parking ticket because it can't start. plus tested the signal going into the distributor and I have a signal so its the power stage. wondering if I can swap in a ABA coil on a CIS-M but I don't think anyone has done it. reinstalled panels in the dash so tomorrow I'm going to install the radio. was goin got fix the jetta and truck but wifey wanted to go with me and tour walmart so that pretty much killed my work on car day. she has church tomorrow so i'll be working on the cars then

UPDATE: Well worked on the car today. Installed the coil and power stage and still didn't start. Turned out to be the previous owner didn't put clamps on the fuel line when it was fixed and it popped and was just dumpling fuel. Fixed the line and started straight up. Well like always I have issues so hopefully by the weekend I'll have to remove the thermostat and flush the system with water. Because it's overheating and I think I have a leak or the radiator is clogged. I ordered a new radiator it will be here Monday but I'm going to flush the system so it will be flushed and I'll just have to put in the radiator.

UPDATE: flush the coolant 4 times and there is still sludge in the coolant. I'm thinking it might be a leaking oil cooler. There is no coolant in the oil but there is oil in the coolant.

Sorry to hear about the cooling system problems, at least you're making progress though!

      Good luck!

Replaced radiator. I didn't have to remove the front end because you can get to the front bolts through the front when you remove the grill. Also I have to replace the condenser by summer because it's clearly shot. Didn't get it filled today because I didn't have enough coolant. And tomorrow it's raining so hopefully by the weekend.

UPDATE: replaced rear hatch struts and finally vaccumed coolant system and filled with coolant. But for some reason still no heat. So I think the heater core is clogged or something. I'll look into it one day to see what exactly. Plus heated seats work.

UPDATE: fixed the power steering belt and also replace the timing cover for the transmission. Hopefully this weekend I'll get around to installing stereo and trying to back flush heater core.

UPDATE: well i tried to get the car a alignment yesterday and first place couldn't do it because they don't have the specs. second place couldn't do it because it was lowered. third place did it but alignment guy was a newbie so forgot to set the camber and check the suspension. turns out I need a new left control arm because the bushings are worn out. so i'm going to order a new left and right control arms and ball joints so should be installing saturday. also ordered new injector seals.

UPDATE: Head needs to come back off. I'm sure the head bolts or the head is warped are the problem. Still getting oil in the coolant. I ordered APR head studs and i have a whole motor in the garage so i'm going to take the head off it tomorrow and thrusday i'm going to start removing the old head. i called machine shop and they said around $120-150 to do the head so i might as well just get all the parts and have them rebuild the head with new seals and springs later and just use another head in the mean time.
