    Thread: Tuning Options

    1. 02-11-2020 10:52 AM #1
Hello everyone! New here trading in my 370z Nismo for a Golf R. I had a MkV GTi a couple years ago and it was APR Stage 2. Now looking at the Golf R there is a wealth of tuning companies to choose from. I've been recommended APR, Unitronic, Revo, and 034 Motorsports. Any recommendations on which to choose or other options? Thanks!

Unitronic would be most reliable as its tuned like an oem that isn't wringing out the motor for every last drop like other tuners do.

I did unitronic stage 1+ and TCU stage 1. I couldn’t be happier. Flawless tune thus far. I have no desire to go to stage 2 because stage 1+ is fast enough in my opinion.

Nope. Not even close. Unitronic makes more HP than apr across the board but it makes less TQ to keep everything happy. They base their tunes around the OEM plugs as well so you don't have to start gapping/changing to different plugs.

Good to know. I might go that route then as well. So far my ‘19 dsg feels punchier/faster stock, than my previous ‘16 APR stage2 manual, so I’m not looking for monster torque this time around.....

Cobb Accessport with a custom E-tune (Ed @ EqTuning and a couple of others that are highly regarded).

Excellent results, and you can't beat the convenience of obtaining logs, sending them to the tuner and loading the maps he sends back from the comfort of home......

Tunes are on par with APR and others that wring the power out of the motors. Depends what you're after. I'd prefer Unitronic level power with the ability to monitor like the accesport does.

Then stack a JB4 on that for a quattro tune.
If you are going at a speed that causes you to run off the road before ESC can provide any assistance, you may not experience the benefits of ESC
