Yay more power, new 4cyl and chassis tuning, and a special edition. Still an automatic only, still a rebadged Bimmer.

Eh gads that thing is ugly too. Yet another retro inspired poser mobile.

Never was a fan of the Supra even the original. The Celica was the best sporty coupe Toyota ever had and it was affordable for most all.

      Please explain what’s retro there.

I don't find these visually appealing in the least, but I get it

I love how the term "troll" is applied when anyone says anything that isn't considered popular on so many forums.

The new Supra is a mess. I'd say the recent Honda NSX is a mess too. Just proves you can't go home again.

Nah, you're just argumentative for the sake of being argumentative, I've seen it happen in other threads too.

I used to be like you, but then I grew up.

No you’re just dramatic and displaying a failed attempt at edginess.

It IS ugly, but it’s in no way retro. And when called on that instead of making your point you just wet your pants and start flailing about.

It's not that you said something unpopular. You said something that was completely untrue.
There's nothing retro about the design of the new Supra.
A PT Crusier or New Beetle are retro, this new Supra, not so much.

If you're not a troll, then you're a dolt. Pick your poison.

Ah, so you don’t actually have a point.

Next up, cars with round wheels are throwbacks to horsedrawn buggies. Internet moron asks for innovation.

The supra has never been a light car relative to the period correct competition so I don't know why you think it should be. Perhaps you're thinking of the supra way back when it was basically a trim option for the celica?

      2. The four-pot is some 200 pounds lighter than the six, and has a true mechanical limited slip. If price comes in at just under $40K I would say it's the model to have.
I mean, if you're buying a first model year car and paying over sticker, you're not worried about future price adjustments or tweaks to the platform. Also, nothing about what you wrote for #2 would convince me the 4cyl is the better option. I'll take an inline 6 all day over an inline 4, particularly in modern times.

The comment about weight was in the context of the other comment about the Supra being a grownup Miata. I didn’t see a real parallel between the Supra and a lightweight Miata, so I suggested a car that might actually have something in common.

The Supra isn’t a lightweight car like a Miata, it can’t compete with the Cayman, and doesn’t seem to offer much of a unique selling point or particular advantage besides being modern point-and-shoot fast. Is there anything class leading about the Supra?

A difference of 200 lbs in that nose should be noticeable for handling. I’m looking forward to the reviews of the revised suspension setup and some 4 vs 6 cylinder comparisons.
