TIL, some people apparently drive the Nordschleife every day on their commute.

I used to keep a pair of converses in the passenger footwell area. But honestly I got sick of swapping them out every time. I drive my M3 every single day and wear these shoes to work.

Cole Haan, I forget the name but they were slightly pricy at $165.00

Don’t have any trouble driving stick with them.

I used to wear these Adidas Porsche Design S2s to work a lot and no one complained. The stripes and the Porsche Design logo probably make them a bit too casual for what you need. Unfortunately, they don't make them anymore. I wouldn't mind getting a fresh pair.

I have a pair of Cole Haan Lenox Hill oxfords. Mine are black but I think they are the same shoe (or very similar). I mostly leave them in my office but I have driven in them and have no complaints. The pedal feel is better than other dress shoes I have worn for driving.

Anything with a thin sole will be just fine.

I find my AEs pretty decent for driving. However, the heels, not the soles cause issues. The soles wear out floormats like nothing else I've seen. Daily driving in AEs for a few years wore out my carpets in like 20k mi. Since I've stopped driving to work/court in my own car, I've done 30k mi with almost no wear on the same OEM mats using mostly sneakers.

It also wears out soles pretty quickly.

Try getting some more plush or thicker mats. I wear different pairs of AE's daily and don't see any of the normal wear marks and I have about 22k on my car now. OP should think about getting dainite or sole savers next time you send your shoes out for refinishing.

I own this pair of McLaren "dressy" driving shoes in black, which I love because you can dress them up or down. I bought them in Barcelona 10 years ago, so you can only find them used occasionally on ebay:
