    Thread: Modernising MK5 R32 Interior

    1. 02-22-2020 11:20 PM #26
That Eonon GA9353 looks impressive. On their website they also offer a GA 9453B.

It has Android 10, instead of 9.0, and built in CarPlay - so doesn’t need the dongle - but only has Bluetooth 4.0 instead of the 5.0 in the 9353.

Is the 9453B supposed to be a newer version? Or am I missing something?

      Cheers

Personally i think the 2 models have the same functions in someways, the main key difference is the head unit styling one fits the OEM style and the other is a little to MODERN for the year of the car.

      1. GA9353

Fits the 2008 Model better !

      2.

The look of this one looks after market and not OEM+.

So the 9353 model requires their USB dongle for AndriodAuto and Carplay to work?

Yes the GA9353 needs the USB cable plugged in to access Android Auto or Carplay thats why I hooked the USB adapter plug infront of the shifter cleaner then putting it in the glove box !

How big is the usb-dongle and where'd you hide/place it? I was so confused with their amazon image of it lol i was asking myself where the hell did they put that thing 🤣 but I think I'm going to go for the same set-up once I can get a clarification of where the hell to put it lol. I do like it over the other version but wish it was 10.0 unless you can just update it on your own.

I dont think you can update the older Version to Android 10 but i never tried and this is where you install the port * Follow Picture Below *

      1.

you remove the far right dummy insert and install the USB port in and route the wire to the back of the radio that all you need to do ! :

well, long ago when i first picked up the car, i decided to do things that would make it useful for single dad. so, i got rid of the top vent and put in the storage cubby, put in the two under seat drawers, swaped in the RNS-510 and put in the usb connector. more recently, i put in the rear view mirror w/ garage door opener (thanks IFlygti).

most of the stuff is moot now as the kids are older, but they were very handy 10 years ago...LOL.

      shark -

ps, i would love to put in the mkvii dash and wheel, but that is a fairly involved.

All I’ve done so far is add the dash cubby and the Euro switch. I plan on doing the MK7 radio upgrade with CarPlay and android auto. I have the radio already but need to get the harnesses and have it coded. Home shopping has put a hold on everything that’s not critical at the moment

which unit are you referring to? I might be up for a refresh if it keeps all of the features of the RNS 510 (which wasn't cheap =\) and adds in features the kids can edumacate me about =) it have nav?

I believe it’s the MIB2 does not have NAV tho, I believe the MIB2 PQ has nav. Eurozone tuning has a retrofit kit

Thanks THESUARKMAN. I’ve seen them before but they usually don’t specify the fit for a R32. I thought maybe there was something different underneath the seat that would prevent it from being installed. Perfect spot for my nina lol.

Finally ended up purchasing the head-unit and USB cables. Wanted to put an aux port in the front as well, but I couldn't find anything on eBay, but guess it's fine since I prefer Bluetooth. How did you end up running the external mic? I was going to place in in the OEM spot and run the wiring through the A-Pillar and glovebox, unless there's an easier way of doing it lol.
