    Thread: EA113 Connecting Rods

    1. 05-23-2020 09:45 AM #1
Working on a project and I was wondering where you guys find a 21mm rod for a EA113. I've found them but I really do not want to spend $4-500. Anyone has some good used ones?

I understand that the EA888 rods big end is thinner and I do not believe that will work on the crank I have.

      I'm open to any ideas.

None I found on eBay are for an EA113 and with 21mm small ends. Lots for EA888/21 and EA113/20mm.

Golf R (CRZA) rods/pistons use 21mm pins. I installed a set in my GTI (BPY) last year and have had no issues. More info here:

That is the question I will be asking my machinist. I suspect he would want one to give me an answer. So there is no reason to purchase the 20mm version if I can find 21mm version. The 21mm version also has 9mm bolts vs the standard 8mm.

I was also wondering if I can use my JH rods and just taper the small end. I know those can be reamed to 21mm. Of course, I understand the issues with that. I also understand that people would think that is stupid. I've done a lot of stupid things that worked out just fine.

Yeah, I see. Some state TFSI but it's TSI. Tried CDLx for MK6 Golf R engine but no luck.
