      Another LS swapped Volvo!? Gasp!

Just starting this thread early. I wonít be pulling the PRV out until winter. But this is an 88 780 Bertone with the mighty 2.8 V6, aka the PRV. Makes an entire 150hp to the crank, and Iím going to see if someone trying to restore a DeLorean want to buy it.

The engine I will be using is an aluminum Gen4 5.3L that will se a bit of boost. Still havenít decided on an auto trans to put behind it yet.

In. This has potential to go places.

Thatís a surprising amount of rust for a Volvo of that vintage...at least what Iíd see here.

      That's a nice looking Bertone.
Didn't we have somebody in TCL years ago with a 350 (or 305) swapped Volvo 240 that seemed cursed to never run right?
Hmm, maybe i can find that old thread.

Hmmmm... itís an interesting project. Iíd have to swap out those seats along with the engine, though.

And I know a guy with a Delorean that has blown head gaskets. (At the very least!) Hmmmm...

His Delorean has been sitting a long time, as his income is severely compromised because of health issues. I donít know what he plans to do with it.

Itíd be a lot of fun if he got it going. Years ago he drove it down a big chunk of Route 66 and had a blast!

lol at those seat controls, is the knob for power lumbar?

A few of those bertones were 2.3t/5 speeds, and there was just an article on Curbside about them at launch with the 125 hp carbed V6 and the 4 speed+OD manual.
I gave up dailing old and rare cars and became a normie.

Iíve always loved these cars, such a great design. I used to see a white turbo on gold mesh wheels around town but itís been ages.

In retrospect, it is a bit funny that Volvo had a "special model" for when they tried to make a car actually look.. good.

Reminds me of a 2-door 240 wagon with an LS swap I saw at Saratoga once.

      DIS GON' BE GUD.

So in for the before burnouts and after burnouts. All the burnouts.

Also, download a 0-60 app for your phone and try to get some before and after performance numbers. It would be fun to see the improvement.

Are the headlights stock? Or do they have some kind of cover on them? Haven't seen one in so long I can't remember haha. Great project!

      In for this

Every time I see a LS swapped Volvo, it just seemed like the engine belonged in there to begin with.

Bertone Volvos are funny to look at. They kinda remind me of 70-80s Maserati sedans - square but with a noticeable attempt at trying to upstyle them. And those seat remind me of Maserati as well - big, flowing shapes and no character lines at all.

      Anyway, great to see a 780 getting a V8!
