Watch the ironic engine bay sticker @ 0:49 then skip "street racing" to 4:40 for the fire.

"Cause of the fire was determined to be a melted brake line quick disconnect, spraying the hot brakes igniting the fluid, working its way into the engine bay. Pumping the brakes after the race fueled the fire even further. Shortly before the car stopped the fuel line melted through creating the flames to grow rapidly"

#1. I thought street racing videos were a no-no on TCL.
      #2. What's a quick disconnect brake line?
#3. One less idiot street racer? Good.

He put regular old industrial quick release hydraulic fittings on his brake calipers so he can run smaller ones for his winter set-up

If only he'd been on a track where emergency services would have had the fire extinguished in less than 5 minutes.

He was so worried about stopping it as if he was going to be able to put the fire out.

I can't help but think that the driver cared more about his car than his and his passengers life... It's a wide ass highway and no traffic and he's just coasting downhill in neutral doing nothing to try and stop.
At some point you just grind up against a guard rail and get it stopped or something

Because it's so hard to remove normal flexible hydraulic brake lines?

Yeah, he should have found a good place to stuff it so they could actually get out of the vehicle. Idiots doing 150 mph pulls through the city on I25, play stupid games, win stupid prizes, at least no one was hurt.

Pretty much. Your car is burning, you're worried about what exactly? Body damage? As your engine and legs melt?

Same thing I was thinking. Just start rubbing it against the wall!

      .
9 times out of 10 we close the street racing threads down. In this case however a lesson to be learned here that they say in the video about street racing and why NOT to do it.

Take it to a track... this is why.

I'll give this some leeway until people start to derail it completely.. which they will.

It is weird to me that the guy filming afterwards says "lesson learned, don't street race kids" as if 1320 is going to never put up another street racing video.

I'm fairly sure the people behind 1320 just film and documents racing, afaik none of them actually Street race.

How do you think that guy is going to explain the fire to his insurance? "So I was just driving home from a late business meeting doing 65mph in the slow lane and the car caught fire"

I mean...that's participation in street racing, no? I'm not the arbiter of anything, I just think it's funny. It's like your Dad telling you 'make sure the ladder is secure before you climb it!' then he doesn't do that, falls on his ass, looks at you and says 'See? I planned that'

That's like saying vice is participating in drug dealing because they document it, isn't it?

Exactly, thanks. Additionally, I have the feeling that the vid might be deleted soon.

One would hope a track tech inspection would have booted him before he even started over the brake line situation .

Ok, now that we're hurtling towards a conversation nobody wants to have - I never claimed the guys at 1320 are doing the racing. They're filming it, putting it up online, and then saying don't do that. It's funny to me. I figured the Dad and ladder metaphor would've helped explain I'm not making a big accusation. I'm making a comment and moving on.

I'm seriously not interested in having a back and forth on this.

I think the real lesson learned is don’t get into a car with someone who cares more about the paintwork than wether or not you die.

      Then monetize it on YouTube.

So many poor choices. I now feel bad I clicked on the link to even add one more view to the video.

Exactly.. that would be the hope. Not entirely sure that would have been caught at the track. Also, having emergency vehicles around in a controlled environment would have increased his chance of not having a carbeque.
