There are still complaints about how the transmission shifts in the new Highlander when pressing down on the pedal (was even worse on the previous Highlander).
I have definitely been warming up to H/K over the last several years. Their packaging for value and design is definitely hard to ignore. I never really associated Honda with quality (paint/rust) or reliability (glass transmissions), but I also didn't associate those things with H/K until recently either. I don't see any of the early- and mid- 2000s cars on the road the same way I do most any other brand, but that is slowly changing I think.

I just mentioned it in another thread, but if H/K offered the same kind of warranty to us the same way it did to US (the big US, you know ), I would legit cross-shop. And that is NOT something I would have said 5+ years ago.

I really like the Elantra Sport and to some degree the N, but H/K still doesn't make an 86 competitor since the demise of the relatively low-quality GC and I'm all about dat RWD sports car lyfe yo.

That's a weird placement of the rear Hyundai logo

Not a fan, though I'm curious to see the interior in lighter colors.

I’m whelmed. I think it makes the already dated looking Genesis lineup look even more dated in comparison.

I actually don't like any of it. The front is best part but even that looks just too chaotic for me. The interior looks like they had a bunch of ideas and just went with all of them.

And what is with Hyundai/Kia putting the rear turn signals at the bottom of their bumpers?!

The side profile is way too busy and makes it look frumpy. Too bad.

Overall, I like it, but all that detailing on the sides... it's a lot.

Hyundai exterior design slogan: Taking too much, too far (said elegantly)

Interior: I like it! Very nice. Looks like a simplified version of Infiniti QX50

I don't love the touch panel surrounding the infotainment screen, but if they bring the plug in hybrid here I could very likely see myself ditching my Kona EV for it. I/We really want something for longer road trips that can tow a small trailer.

FWIW, I think the blue one pictured above is the short wheelbase and the grey one above it is the long wheelbase model. Since the refreshed 2021 Santa Fe is now a bit larger my guess is we will only get the LWB version here in the states to leave more room for the next-gen Kona to grow a tiny bit and better separate itself from the Venue.

Not to get off topic, but are you confusing Genesis with Lexus? There's nothing dated about Genesis' lineup.

I guess I was wrong. I was hoping that part of the DRL cluster would be the headlights.

That's too bad. I was expecting more based on the renders, but all the creases on the side don't look good to me. It will stand out to some degree, but I'm not sure in a good way. I look forward to hearing about the powertrain.

Of course not. Releasing new products doesn't exclude you from having designs that look dated.
