      BMW is dead to me.
Was Designworks behind the X7? I4?

The BMW suits are still making the decisions to put the design into production. It's like they are intentionally trying to sink the company ffs and I'm far from a BMW nut hugger.
Don't let the bastards grind you down.

      Yup. Just googled it:

Idk though, never talked to BMW suits, just designworks ones.

I still don't like the grill, but yeah, I think the hate is a little over the top on what is likely otherwise a very good car. Makes me want to irreverently buy one as well.

I’m not loving the staggered f/r wheel setups. What was wrong with the f80’s 18,19 or 20 options? Now you get 18/19 or 19/20s.

That means the M4 Comp is probably gonna be 100k+. Pretty wild.

What was the most expensive E46 M3 money could buy (besides limited production models)?

No it doesn't. This tracks the X3 M pricing almost exactly.

The Comp package will likely be a $7k upgrade (like it is on the X3 M). Add in another $6,000 of leather/paint/tech options, and I bet an M3 Comp will be ~$85,000.

Now, if you tick the boxes next to Carbon Ceramic brakes and other such stuff, then yes, $100k will be possible.

But it was also possible to get the F80/F82 within striking distance of $100k.

In the fact, using inflation adjusted dollars, the new M3 is actually cheaper than the F80/F82 when released.

Negative comments to various pics posted by BMW M to their Insta account are piling up FAST, outweigh any positive ones about 10/1. It's more brutal than I remember the backlash being when the Bangle designs started hitting the streets.. and rightfully so IMHO.

We'll see how this plays out. I have a feeling sales numbers will be fine.

I am actually very interested in a base M3 6-speed. I think, in a dark color, I can live with the pig snout. I think. I have to see it in person.

The E90 was a poorly made economy car masquerading as premium. The E60 has only aged well stylistically.

I just thought that BMW said the large grill would be for coupes only. Why does the m3 have it. I would've preferred a sleeper M3 and bonkers M4. that would seem to cover all bases like bmw is trying to do.

I actually like the grille on it's own, it's the way it has been integrated that might be questionable. they should've put this on the z4 - it would work better on a car with a lower hood

I too quite like the grille, at least they are trying to be daring with their styling in this age of boring design. I just wish the rest of the car wasn't so generic. The grille is obnoxious but that has always been a part of modern BMW's image hasn't it? The grille is a mix of futuristic/retro, the rest of the car should be too.

Never been an M3 guy (I drive an M5) but the Shmee video is giving me hope. The car in the video looks like a concept car rather than the real deal. The designers really did a good job with the body and all the accents. I'm already getting used to the new front grille so it really doesn't bother me (so long as they don't bring it to the M5) but I think this car will age well. The only downside is that the front looks horrible with any license plate, not just American.

I like it other than this too. Wonder if you could swap an M340i front clip on...

Otherwise, if I were shopping in this class I’d be waiting for CT5-V Blackwing, which the CT5-V has its own design issues but nothing as egregious.

It's weird. I always reacted badly to new BMW design languages throughout the years. I hated the E60 when it came out, thought the F30 was weird and was not a fan of the G20. But ended up warming up to all of them eventually in the right trim/color combo.
I can already feel it happening with the new M3/4 also. Thought it looked atrocious in the spy pics/leaks. Now it looks "bad, but not terrible" in these Carwow and Shmee videos. I wouldn't be surprised if I end up liking it in the flesh. TBH, everything looks pretty good apart from the front.

Why the f**k are we using words like "emotionality" when it comes to designing cars?
As these cars show, design evokes emotions.

Just came back to say the curb weight starts at 3850lbs. For reference the base 2015 M3 was 3540lbs. Progress!

I'm sure the performance is amazing but I can't get over that front end.

I guess I'll stick to my fake rich G20.

Just 100lbs away from the E39 M5. But yeah, the new M3 is basically taking the old M5's position dimensionally (not price) as it's also only 2.5 inches shorter than the E39.

      New M3

Weight: 3850 lbs (wonder how accurate that is, since the M340iX is 3,968 lbs)
      Length: 185.7"
      Width: 71.9"
      Height: 56.7"
      Wheelbase: 112.2"
      MSRP: $69,000

      E39 M5

      Weight: 3.957 lbs
      Length: 188.3"
      Width: 70.9"
      Height: 55.6"
      Wheelbase: 111.4"
      MSRP: $75,000 (2000 dollars)

At least they offer it in real colors.

A base m3 6 speed would be my choice.

Is that for the base? That means the AWD/Auto combo is a 4000lb car easy.

Holy hell.. the "M Race Track Paket" is just about an 18,000 Euro option...

The M3 is warming on me, I view this as a baby M5, which in a couple years (5-6) is what I'll want for a daily. I'm having more of an issue with the G70 that I cannot unsee in the front quarter from the headlight back to the front door. I'm getting the feeling this will turn out like every other generation, get attacked at first, and then people get used to it and like it. I remember hating F series cars when they first debuted....and now I own one.

The M4 on the other hand just falls flat for me.
