Yep, Car and Driver weighed theirs at 3830 lbs

Many folks have already "fixed" this thing, and I would normally never try to (I have an insane amount of respect for car designers) but I really feel like this gives you everything you already have without making something so disproportionate. Its quick and dirty but it's an improvement IMO.

Yep. That's it, though I might change the lower portion a bit so it doesn't look like a dopey grin.

Yeah I did this super quick, and didn't even realize the lower portion was lopsided (fixed it now) but like...you can have your new grille, your new language, its still bold, but it still looks like what it is.

Good to know. I assumed Eyetalians only lied about the curb weight of supercars, but I guess not. What's also assured is that BMW (and all the other Germans) will report horsepower figures that are 10-20% underrated, so the 480hp rating of the base M3 will probably end up being like 530 crank hp.

I watched the carwow vid and my reaction was not as bad as when I first saw the concept photos. The M grille in all black definitely works better.

The euro cars in the carwow vid have the plate breaking it up. I think in US spec where states have no front plate law, the front is going to be ungainly. I figure there will be some aftermarket fixes available like that photoshop up above. I do like the rest of the car.

Never thought about this until I was staring at my own car. Although the rears are wider, the diameter and sidewall heights are the same as my Q50 and for some reason I feel like the M4's tires have more sidewall (same michelin PSS). I'm wondering if its the M3/4 specific PSS that is what causes this and if I were to purchase generic PSS it would change?

      likely a great deal more.

The S55 in the F82 M3 was originally factory rated at "414hp" but frequently dynoed, bone stock, at over 400 rwhp. It was actually producing 460-480hp at the crank.

My guess is that this new M3 (NON competition version) will dyno at approximately 470 rwhp, or 550+ crank horsepower. That's my guess. And with the new M5 (which is well over 100 crank horsepower underrated) as a guide, it wouldn't surprise me.

EDIT: Also keep in mind that the B58 in the M340i dynos close to 450 crank horsepower. So you know the "470hp" rating on the new M3 is a bunch of underrated BS.

All i can add is that the butt dyno agrees with this. The "414" in my M4 feels substantially greater than the 400 quoted for my Q50. It's really quite silly the difference. There is a weight difference of ~300lbs, but that doesn't account for the difference in acceleration based on 14hp and ~50lbs of tq.

Yea, German HP ratings are more of a suggestion than anything. BMW already seems to get more out of an actual HP figure than everyone else (I remember the E46 330Ci being as fast as the G35 Coupe with 60 less HP), so this thing is going to be a ****ing rocket.

I was just talking sales. Aston is in trouble. I like the new Vantage, fish mouth and all.

The Germans demonstrated long ago that literally anything with the right badge and body style will sell though. Our feelings are irrelevant

3rd generation straight where the sedan looks 10x better then the coupe.

The M4 looks ugly from a lot more angles then straight on.

That is a MASSIVE improvement. Good job!

If the M3 had this front I'd start saving my beans for one right now.

That altered front end looks way better. I'm actually shocked at how much better it looks.

The new M3 has the same base price as the X3M.

So assuming option pricing is consistent, you should be able to get a 6M RWD M3 sedan with the executive package, nice leather, and an actual paint color for ~$75,000 MSRP. All things considered, forgetting about the snout, that isn't as terribly expensive as I had feared.

This car went from something that I kind of thought of as a joke to something that I might seriously be interested in ordering . . . except for the damn snout. COME ON! Maybe in black or dark grey I can live with it

The E90 was good-looking, but the E92 was a great shape.

The snout and the heft are the only thing keeping me from slapping BMW on the back for finally returning to form. I don't want the M2 to be the only BMW I want anymore.

Is this the "BMW has Lost Their Way" thread?
Americans hate EVs because they grew up with Power Wheels that were glacially slow, ran out of power in 20 minutes and took an entire day to recharge.
