So you fork out $75k for your new M4 and you still need to spend another $5k for a new nose, paint and installation? How about not have an ugly design to begin with?
The car isn’t bad looking at all. It’s actually like a McMansion.
It’s a mess of lines and differing styles that look good to the unrefined untrained eye. Anyone who appreciates design (This is a vw forum so I’d say a majority of people here) would see this car for the mess that it is. There is no cohesion between the front, the side, the back of the car, just like a McMansion and it’s facades are always incoherent.
I have no doubts it will sell well. It is designed for a 3 year lease in mind, because in 3 years this design will be very dated. By then the LCI will be out and the bmw customer will swap their leases.
I have no doubt it will be a performance monster but omg this design is unacceptable for an iconic brand like bmw.
This is a trend I notice all over, so many brands are dropping their heritage for nothing. In the fashion industry Christian Dior just changed the logo they’ve been using since forever for no reason, they got backlash and changed it back.

So in 2016 the best lease I could get on an m3 was $1400cdn a month. I can now get a model 3 performance for about $900 a month. I’m wondering if the new m3 is really worth the premium bmw Canada is going to command for it. It’s not like it will be faster than the model 3 . . .
The only issues is the front. Oh and what is the diffrence bettween the M3 and M3C appart from the badge and small HP bump? The Canadian configurator seems to show the same options for both cars.
I'd like it more without the yellow bits to be honest. Kind of funny that Yas Marina was offered on the exterior for the last gen but the interior for this gen.
Would have been nice to combine the two, sort of like the Yachting Blue exterior and interior on early Panameras.
I've marinated on this for a couple of days as I didn't want to rush to judgement. However, I think the whole exterior design is terrible, not just the front. It is an over stylized mishmash of lines everywhere.
WTF is going on with the diffuser sticking out so far from the rear bumper? It's like the bumper was cut off and they just slapped this diffuser extension on and blended it together. And the transition from the rear door to the widened rear fender is way too abrupt. I could go on and on, but just another disappointing BMW design.

They do that because they want to use the same rear door as the standard car. Same reason the rear door on the JL Gladiator looks stupid - It's the same rear door as the JLU. It's a definite cost cutting move and looks pretty bad.
^Wow I was so focused on the mess that is the front that I didn't see the rear. I'm sure it drives amazingly and the green color is awesome but there is no way I can jump on board with that design.
What if it ends up being a $700 lease because no one wants it?
If this thing becomes cheaper to lease than my F80 then I can see maybe I will look past the ugly and save the manual again. But for sure not with comp package automatic... I rather have C63 (for now while the V8 is still around) if I'm forced to drive automatic.
Some more IRL shots of pre-production cars. A big highlighter yellow sedan is so cool to me  The white car has the carbon package. I think the front end on it looks much better than the mesh.
Cannot unsee transition from rear door to fender on the G80. I hope BMW clear-bras that like how Porsche does with it's cars. I also think the G82 looks disproportionate length-wise. The E92 had the same problem and, to a lesser extent, the F82 as well. I think the E46 was the last car to not really have this problem.
oh man that asymmetrical radar location on the driver side grill...that looks effing lazy and terrible. didnt think the front end could get any worse..
